The winners of the MEP Middle East Awards 2014 were announced at a gala dinner event in Dubai’s Sofitel The Palm Resort & Spa on Wednesday evening (26 November).
ETA Engineering was the biggest winner on the night, taking home two awards for Contractor of the Year and GCC Project of the Year for Cleveland Clinic.
However, consultant WSP also bagged two awards, winning Electrical Project of the Year for Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park and MEP Executive of the Year, which went to MEP director Ray Moore.
The Altaaqa Group also ended the night with two awards: Health and Safety Initiative of the Year for “Providing Adequate Security in Hostile Environments” for Altaaqa Global and Specialist Contractor of the Year for Saudi sister company Altaaqa Alternative Solutions.
Among the other company winners were KEO International Consultants, who sauntered off with the MEP Consultant of the Year – the first time in the awards eight year history that Atkins failed to win the award.
The Boutique Consultant of the Year award went to Griffin Consultants.
The two remaining specialised project awards saw Arabian MEP Contracting win Public Health Project of the Year for Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City, while Ramboll won Mechanical Project of the Year for Khalifa University.
Among the individual winners were Rahul Ramakrishnan from Trans Gulf Electro Mechanical who won Project Manager of the Year; Menna Dessouki from BuroHappold Engineering who won Young Engineer of the Year; Stephen Clough from Black & White Engineering who won Electrical Engineer of the Year; and Nic Byczynski from Hyder Consulting for Mechanical Engineer of the Year.
An independent panel of 12 judges voted for the 2014 MEP Middle East Awards made up of industry professionals from across the GCC and throughout the construction sector.
